Simon De Bosscher and Seppe Bultynck teamed up for an experimental and challenging exhibition.  

Inspired by the industrial, desolate landscape of Charleroi, the artists have frequently carried out interventions in the city’s so‑called “public” spaces. They regularly search for traces of the past, of labourers, raw materials, and industrial processes,  while also allowing themselves to be captivated by the power of nature slowly erasing the marks left by human activity.

Their attention was drawn to a water tower beside a steel factory. After several explorations, they began conceiving an exhibition that would remain in place until the abandoned structure is eventually demolished. The plan: to install the works on the top floor of the concrete tower.

A selection of sculptures, printed photographs, and a 17‑metre‑long flag were carried upward in the middle of the night, hoisted dozens of metres into the air. With a chemical anchor they secured the flag outside the window and in that moment, the exhibition was opened.

To this day, the installation can be viewed at 50°24'52.5"N 4°24'51.6"E.
